i'm new to reiki, what is it exactly?

  • reiki is universal life energy. it exists in all living things - plants, animals, and people.

  • reiki is gentle, and promotes relaxation, stress relief, and emotional balance. 

  • it works with your body's natural energy to support you on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.

  • as a practitioner, i assess the sources of energy within your body, known as chakras. i complete an assessment and channel energy during the session to empower, heal, and rebalance. 

  • i share my findings with you at the end of each session, and recommend simple interventions that cans help you stay aligned in your day-to-day life. 

  • note: reiki is not a replacement for medical care - it should be use as a complement.

what can reiki help with?

  • reiki can help with many things, including:

    • anxiety/depression

    • insomnia

    • grief

    • tension in the body

    • goal setting

    • restorative rest

    • and much more!

is reiki religious?

nope! reiki is spiritual and energetic by nature, but not religious.

you don’t need to believe in anything specific to work. you only have to be open to receiving healing energy.

what is the experience like? will i feel anything specific?

  • everyone experiences reiki differently, and there is no wrong way to experience it.

  • some people have physical experiences, like tingling and warm sensations on their skin. some report visualizations, such as seeing bright colors. others remember old memories. many have emotional responses.

  • some people don't report any physical or emotional sensations, and that's okay! at most they may simply feel relaxed after the session. reiki energy works even if you don't consciously sense it. trust your body, it knows what to do.


what happens during a session?

  • i'll welcome you in and we'll sit down for a brief consultation. i'll use this time to learn about your concerns and needs.

  • next, you'll lay down on my massage table (or, you can choose to sit up if you prefer). you'll remain fully clothed and in the same position for the session. 

  • i'll use various oils, incenses, music, and tools to energetically prepare. if you have any sensitivities, i'll be happy to omit some of these things from the session, you just let me know.

  • i'll gently place my hands on, or above various parts of your body. you may also feel my hands briefly brush over some areas - think of this as me 'sweeping' any negative energy away.

  • i never touch any private areas. in fact, during intake, i’ll ask if there are any areas you prefer i avoid.

  • no talking is necessary unless you want to share.

  • once treatment is complete, i'll quietly let you know that the session has ended and give you some time to gather yourself.

  • we'll then talk about your experience, and i'll share my findings with you.

how many sessions do i need?

  • this depends entirely on your goals!

  • one session can bring periodic clarity, relaxation or peace.

  • multiple sessions are especially beneficial. not only do the frequency of the sessions help, but the ongoing relationship and continuity of care extend the scope of your healing.
